According to the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the senators started the second day of the plenary session with consideration of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On ratification of the Protocol on Amendments and Additions to the Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic of Germany on the avoidance of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and property dated September 7, 1999 (Berlin, October 14, 2014) «. It was noted that the protocol envisages amendments to the current agreement aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation on information exchange and mutual assistance in the tax sphere.

According to the senators, the adoption of this protocol will help increase the speed of exchange of tax information between the two countries, counteract various tax abuses, as well as timely receipt of taxes unpaid by residents in the budgets of the parties.

Further, the senators, in accordance with Article 80 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heard a report on the activities of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2014. It was noted that last year the activity of the Central Bank was carried out in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan» and was aimed at unconditionally fulfilling the tasks determined by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of the country’s socioeconomic development in 2013 and the most important priority areas of the economic program for 2014, the Senate resolution of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan «On the report Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the activities of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2013 «.

In general, following the results of the two-day session of the Senate, 11 issues were considered, including 6 laws.

Approved laws and adopted decisions will contribute to the further gradual deepening of democratic, socio-economic, social and political reforms and the formation of civil society, raising the standard of living and welfare of the population.
